Vincent Gunter is a Partner who practices nationwide in cases involving products liability, toxic tort, and employment. Vince has tried, managed, and settled hundreds of personal injury and employment cases across the nation. He has litigated cases involving asbestos, silica, pharmaceuticals, environmental contamination, in addition to transportation and general product liability cases. Vince practices at the state, federal, and appellate court levels nationwide. He has acted as local, regional, and national counsel for over twenty corporations. A few of Vince’s prominent clients include Ingersoll-Rand, Trane Co., American Standard, Pfizer, Inc., Bayer Corp., Dana Corp., Danaher Corp., Hennessy Industries, Inc., M&I Bank, and BMO Harris Bank.
As a former in-house counsel with an international logistics company, Vince has a unique understanding of issues confronting corporate litigants in the United States. Vince previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard E. Dorr of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He also served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Army and is a recipient of the Bronze Star Award while serving in Iraq. During law school, Vince was the editor-in-chief of the UMKC Law Review.
Toxic Tort and Product Liability
Vince maintains an active practice in toxic tort and product liability litigation. He defends cases involving products such as pumps, valves, compressors, boilers, air handling units, turbines, HVAC units, brakes and linings for automobiles and trucks, gaskets in automobiles, trucks and equipment, and also pharmaceutical medicines. His work involves examination and knowledge of the intended uses of products, operating principles, maintenance schedules and procedures, applicable regulations, and industry standards, all of which he applies to the development of aggressive defense strategies during all stages of trial.
Vince defends national trucking companies against personal injury and property damage claims. He capably represents the trucking companies themselves in addition to their drivers and insurers. He has successfully mediated over 50 cases on behalf of trucking companies and obtained outright dismissals in numerous others. In addition, he has personally tried civil jury cases to verdict and obtained full defense verdicts, including following a wrongful death action in Minnesota in May 2009.
Vince has represented employers in cases involving allegations of wrongful termination for discrimination and retaliation and has also prosecuted and defended claims concerning noncompetition agreements and trade secrets.
Vince is licensed to practice in the states of Missouri and Kansas and the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and District of Kansas. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2000.
